Social Mobility is the link between a person’s occupation or income, and the occupation or income of their Parents.
Huge swathes of potential leadership talent are neglected by our industry overlooking unconscious biases relating to social class.
Due to economic circumstances, the potential future leaders of our industry are disconnected from opportunity and have limited visibility of career possibilities.
Without early quality outreach, many highly skilled, highly capable individuals from lower socio-economic backgrounds are lost from our potential talent pool.
Socioeconomic class is intersectional with other diversity identities, which place even more barriers between opportunities and success.
Driving social mobility, by correlation, will progress other diversity characteristics in the work place.
